“You Are a Badass Every Day: How to Keep Your Motivation Strong, Your Vibe High, and Your Quest for Transformation Unstoppable” by Jen Sincero
This is a quick, easy read to pick up when you find yourself needing a little inspirational kick in the ass. This book is not about how to build the foundation of good habits, goals, and finding joy in every day life (she has a book for that too though), it’s about how to maintain what you’ve built when the going gets tough.
If you liked…any of Jen Sincero’s other books such as “You Are A Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life”, you’ll like this one. Think of it as a booster to read through in a weekend every every couple of months when you need a shot of “LET’S DO THIS!”
As her book jacket bio reads, “Jen Sincero is a world-renowned author, success coach, and motivational speaker who’s spent over a decade helping people transform their lives”. In other words, she herself is a badass. If you’ve never heard of her, get ready to meet your new best friend who will give it to you straight, help you work past those moments of self-doubt, and entertain you with her sharp wit and amusing stories. I recommend first listening to all of her books in Audiobook format as it really helps to get the flow of her writing; let’s just say she writes like she talks and the little nuances she adds to the reading really make the book even better. Buy or Borrow?
If the except above doesn’t draw you in and hook ya, not sure what will. This one is a BUY, not just borrow. There are tons of little nuggets like this that you can go back to over and over again. I mean you can literally open the book to any page and find a chapter that will speak to you and what you may need in that moment. I hope you check it out!
Where can I get this wonderful book you may ask!
Find a hard copy in your local library in the Non-Fiction section (IBSN 978-0-525-56164-4). In my area, Stanislaus County in Modesto, California, you can download the Library app and get everything in a one-stop shop. I cannot say enough about how great this app is for really taking full advantage of everything our local libraries have to offer.
Get the audiobook. If your local library uses apps like Cloud Library or Hoopla, you can connect that app to your library card and check out the Audiobook for FREE! Again, I really recommend listening to all of Jen Sincero’s books as an Audio book in addition to reading the paper, hardback, or eBook.
You can download the book through Audible which is subscription based. They offer a free seven day trail period and you can also purchase individual books through the app if you prefer not to have a subscription service.
You can also buy the eBook through Apple Books or again, you can also get it FREE from your local library if they use Cloud Library or Hoopla!
You can buy it on Amazon or at Barnes & Noble.
Tasty little nuggets…
Here is a little taste of what you can find in this motivating book by Jen Sincero.
“The excellent thing about living as a human being on planet Earth is that you have the almighty power of choice, which means you get to choose between achieving success and giving up…Success requires commitment, motivation, focus, a sense of purpose, and courage, and it requires that you continually strengthen these muscles so you meet each new challenge with a big ole can of get-the-fuck-outta-my-way.
Strengthening these muscles of badassery is where something I like to call the spiritual gym comes in. As we travel the winding road to greatness, we’ve got to have some sort of workout routine to keep your motivation strong, our belief in the near impossible unwavering, and our focus firm – because muscles don’t stay strong all by themselves. You don’t go to the regular gym, for example, get in shape, and then act like, alrighty, that was great, thanks for the help with my awesome new bod, see ya! You have to keep working out on a regular basis, and you have to keep pushing yourself past your comfort zone if you want to stay strong. Going to the spiritual gym involves any combination of the following: Studying self-help books, unearthing your limiting thoughts and beliefs, and doing the work to get over your blocks…meditating, listening to powerful speakers, journaling, making gratitude lists that leave you sobbingly aware of what a miracle your life it, reading biographies of people who inspire the crap out of you…”
Enjoy!!
